“It’s a really exciting format, something quite different from traditional water polo. The wind, waves, weather and other environmental factors can really change the game from one minute to the next. We’re really proud that Packaworld is helping to bring the game to Australia’s beaches,” Mr Roberts said.
Beach Water Polo Fours is a modified format of traditional water polo, played on a smaller field and with only four players. Its open to players of all ages, skill and fitness levels, with men’s, women’s and mixed competitions held at some of Australia’s best beaches.
The event was the fourth of the summer, having previously visited beaches in Wollongong, Cronulla and Manly. The Open Women’s Competition was jointly won by Aquaholics and Benchwarmers, the Mixed Competition was won by Club Tropo, and the Open Men’s Competition was won by the Maple Leafs.
