Packaworld a finalist in Wellington Gold Awards

Packaworld was announced as a finalist in the Global Gold category of the 2016 Wellington Gold Awards last night.

This award recognises major business contributions from Wellington-based exporters of goods and services. Previous winners include Icebreaker (2006) and Xero (2012).

Packaworld CEO Peter Roberts said he was “blown away” by the news.

The award finalists were named at Te Wharewaka o Poneke function centre, in Wellington. A full list of finalists is available on the awards website, and features in an article in today's edition of the Dominion Post.

“I am honoured our efforts have received this sort of recognition,” Mr Roberts said, “Packaworld has taken big steps forward recently, and we are dedicated to enabling people around the world to play the sports they love.”

He said Packaworld was “much more than a supplier of sporting equipment” with a range of products that resolved issues of portability, storage and safety, designed in collaboration with passionate sportspeople and organisations.

Mr Roberts said much of Packaworld’s success comes from the relationships the company has built around the world, and a lot of the credit went to clients and distributors for their willing participation in projects to create new products and solutions to age-old problems.

The Wellington Gold Awards are held in association with The Dominion Post, and have celebrated the excellence and enterprise of business in the Wellington region since 1999. The 2016 winners will be announced at TSB Bank Arena on 30 June.
