Horrific collision ends Kangaroo's dreams at Rugby League World Cup

It took 20 minutes to put Luke Lewis' dislocated left shoulder back in place after a horrific collision with an advertising hoarding cruelly ended his World Cup dreams.

This was one of the many accidents at the recent World Rugby League World Cup Finals - this one proving to be the most severe.

Dangers of Hoardings

Advertising hoardings have become common place at sports events and stadia and become a valuable revenue generator for sports teams, clubs and facility owners alike.

Traditionally the hoarding designs are very basic and usually comprise of sections of plywood, attached to a collapsible steel frame, to which printed coreflute advertising is fixed.

The set-up of these systems is labour intensive and also carries with it the burden of a high cost of transport and storage - these rigid structures also have the potential to cause injury.
