Curtain raiser for the Bledisloe Cup. A Rippa Rugby tri-series - NZ Rugby, Wellington Rugby and a Parliament select battle it out on the impressive NZ Parliament grounds. Wellington Rugby ran out comfortable winners.
"Rippa Rugby is a game for primary school children. It is a safe, non-contact, easy to play game for both boys and girls alike which promotes ball handling and running skills. Best of all it's fun and exciting for all involved," said NZ Rugby Education and Coaching Resource Manager, Peter Harold.
"The Junior Rugby Posts were originally developed with Rippa Rugby in mind," said Packaworld head, Pete Roberts, "and we spent a bit of time, some months back, with Peter and his team from NZ Rugby developing these posts with a view that some day they could be introduced into the Rippa Rugby game to promote kicking skills. Whilst this is yet to materialise it's good to see that the Union will be using the posts on a new initiative to promote the game throughout the country - albeit for cosmetic effect. After all they do look good and the kids love the thought of playing on a pitch that resembles the real thing."
